1st Dance Summer Camp - Dancing with the Stars meets American Idol

1st Dance Summer Camp is a Musical Theatre intensive summer camp for students ages 10-16. Campers work with Cindy-Lee Overton and her co-counselor. Cindy-Lee is a seasoned theatre professional.  She is a member of the Actors Equity Union and has performed extensively in Theatre and Cabaret shows in NYC and along the Eastern seaboard. Cindy-Lee is the owner of 1st Dance - a dance studio located in Ft. Myers with over 100 Adult students. Her more than 30 years experience in the performing arts combined with her passion for teaching gives campers a real look at what it takes to "put on a show."  The daily routine will include singing classes, acting games and improvisation, dance combinations in several different styles and musical theory.  At the end of each two-week session the campers will perform a full musical production. The children who attend camp also design their own costumes, scenery and props. This in-depth involvement gives campers a true sense of ownership and pride in their productions, resulting in increased confidence and creativity.
 
 
WHO: Children ages 10 thru 16.

WHEN: 9:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, with arrival between 8:45-9:00am and pick-up between 4:00-4:15pm.Early drop off and late pick up are available for an additional fee. Please call for details.

COST: $135 per week. Pre-registration is strongly recommended. Camp is limited to 16 children per session. 50% non-refundable deposit due with registration form. Balance due on first camp day. Balance non-refundable after first day of each session.

Country Western Follies
June 4-15
Hey Cowboys and Cowgirls grab your hats and get your boots ready. Line dancing and two stepping will help tell this rags to riches story.
 

 

 

Session 2
1970’s Fever
June 18-29
We’re going to have some fun with way out costumes and dancing the Hustle as our heroes get ready for the big dance competition. We will Survive!
 

 

 

Session 3
Let’s Swing
July 9-20
Travel back to the legendary band era and World War II Dance Canteens. Great music and high energy dancing. What are they going to do when the headliners don’t show for the big show? Watch the antics of trying to cover for the stars.
 

 

 

Session 4
The Latin Lesson
July 23-August 3
New York City and two different schools get ready to show their stuff. Will the under dogs make the grade? Learn the Cha Cha Cha, Salsa and Argentine Tango.
 

 

 

Session 5
Sock Hop
August 6-17
Poodle Skirts for the girls, white Ts and jeans for the guys. Grease here we come. This last session is sure to please - rockin’ around the clock in your bobby socks!
